The short version: Slate collects nothing.
This policy covers the Android app Slate: Calculator
(package me.zone7.slate), published on Google Play by Zone7 Studios.
What Slate collects
- No personal data. Slate has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and
nothing tracked. It never asks for a runtime permission.
- Your settings stay on your device. Preferences — chosen skin, sounds,
tool options — are stored only in the app's local storage and never leave your device.
Uninstalling the app deletes them.
Network use
Slate works offline — everything ships inside the app. The only times Slate touches the
network are Google Play's billing for the one-time purchase, and casting to your TV if you
use it.
- Purchases. The optional Slate Pro upgrade is a one-time purchase
handled entirely by Google Play's billing system. Payment details go to Google, not to us;
Slate only learns whether the purchase is owned. Google's handling of that transaction is
covered by Google's privacy policy.
- Casting. If you cast, your device and the TV or speaker talk over your
own network, and the receiver page loads from this website. The app sends no identifiers,
and the receiver page sets no cookies.
Permissions
Slate never shows you a runtime permission prompt — the kind Android raises
mid-use to ask for your camera, microphone, location, contacts or files.
Slate asks for none of those.
Google Play's store listing has a separate section headed
“This app has access to”. That lists install-time entries
declared in the app's manifest: they are granted when the app is installed and
never prompt you. In Play's own wording, Slate's are:
- Full network access and view network
connections — used to reach Google Play's billing service, and — only while you are casting — your own Chromecast
device on your home network.
- Google Play licence check — how Google Play tells the app
whether your one-time Pro unlock is owned. That conversation is between your
device and Google; we run no server of our own and receive nothing.
- Other — an app-private entry that Android's own support
libraries add so that only Slate can reach Slate's internal components. It is a
hardening measure, and grants no access to your device or your data.
None of these read, collect or transmit anything personal.
Data sharing
Slate collects no data, so there is nothing to share or sell — with anyone, ever.
